Windows

  1. Install the latest version of Apple Devices from the Microsoft Store.
  2. Plug your iPad 6 (Cellular) in to your PC.
  3. Open Apple Devices, and navigate to your iPad 6 (Cellular).
  4. Hold the Shift key on your keyboard, and press "Restore".
  5. Select the iPad_64bit_TouchID_ASTC_12.4_16G77_Restore.ipsw file that you downloaded.
  6. Wait for the restore to complete, and the iPad 6 (Cellular) to reboot.

macOS

  1. Plug your iPad 6 (Cellular) in to your Mac.
  2. Navigate to your iPad 6 (Cellular) in Finder.
  3. Hold the Option or Alt key on your keyboard, and press "Restore".
  4. Select the iPad_64bit_TouchID_ASTC_12.4_16G77_Restore.ipsw file that you downloaded.
  5. Wait for the restore to complete, and the iPad 6 (Cellular) to reboot.

Linux

  1. Install idevicerestore.
  2. Plug your iPad 6 (Cellular) in to your PC.
  3. Open a terminal, and navigate to the IPSW file that you downloaded, e.g. cd ~/Downloads
  4. To perform a full erase restore, type idevicerestore -e iPad_64bit_TouchID_ASTC_12.4_16G77_Restore.ipsw and press enter.
  5. Wait for the restore to complete, and the iPad 6 (Cellular) to reboot.

Windows

  1. Open PowerShell, and navigate to the IPSW file that you downloaded, e.g. cd Downloads
  2. Type Get-FileHash iPad_64bit_TouchID_ASTC_12.4_16G77_Restore.ipsw -Algorithm SHA1
  3. The output of the command should match the following checksum: 942f82e88acba38acb179461e9cc032cb4db075d. If it doesn't, you may need to redownload the file.

iPhone migration

  • Introduces the ability to wirelessly transfer data and migrate directly from an old iPhone to a new iPhone during setup

Apple News

  • Makes downloaded issues accessible in the My Magazines section, both online and offline

  • Adds all publications in Apple News+, including newspapers, to the catalog at the top of the News+ feed

  • Adds the ability to clear downloaded magazine issues by selecting History > Clear > Clear All

Other improvements and fixes

  • Includes a security fix for the Walkie-Talkie app on Apple Watch and re-enables Walkie-Talkie functionality

This release also includes support for HomePod in Japan and Taiwan.
